Whitfield strikes again!

Speakin' of ol' Normie. Whitfield went on to do disco production, most notably with Rose Royce, with whom he produced and wrote most of the Car Wash soundtrack. They were still at it well into the 80's, so here's one from 1981's Jump Street, "R.R. Express". The album version below is ironically five minutes longer than the 12" "Long Version". Thank God though, because the first few minutes are an incredibly mediocre attempt at trying to hang onto the 70s disco sound, but around the four minute mark the vocals drop out and it hits a nice groove. Then by the seven minute mark we get a cosmically searing Whitfieldian guitar solo followed by all sorts of echoing synthesized space debris. Disco loves patience.
