Future music

Last Thursday I grabbed New Traditionalists, Devo's follow up to Freedom of Choice, their hit album that included "Whip It." It more openly adopted the synth-wave sound that put their prior album in the charts while at the same time the lyrics deride their new pop fan base. (The opening lines are, "We're through being cool/Eliminate the ninnies and the twits.") At the same time, they still didn't quite return to their 70s post-punk message of encroaching human social degradation. The second track is this straight up synth-wave dance number that was definitely my weekend jam.
